The use of AI on KlintesPhoto

Who is the creative force at this place?

There is great interest in how much artificial intelligence is involved in creative works here in 2025. I therefore believe that users and customers of art have the right to be informed about the extent to which AI is used in artworks.

There are already notes about transparency for each of my image-music shows on YouTube and here on KlintesPhoto & Music, but the following is the general description.

Klinte

Is Klinte a real person?

Yes. My name is Ole Klintebæk. Since high school, my nickname has been Klinte, and I later adopted it as my artist name.

Fine Art Photography

Are these images actually photos?

Well. Some believe that for something to be called a photograph, it must resemble what we typically recognize as a photograph.

I call it photography because all images start with one or more exposures in a camera (a few 'taken' with a photo scanner).

They then undergo more or less drastic post-processing in Adobe Photoshop or similar software.

Is AI involved in this post-processing?

No. Generative AI, where you generate images by a prompt (text description) is not used in mine fine art images. That would be no fun for me at all. In addition genAI images can not be copyrighted, so they would not be 'mine'.

However, since 2012, many software developers have used AI in the form of machine learning to develop algorithms. So you could say that AI plays a role in the creative process by enabling tools that have a degree of automation.

Since 2023, it has been possible to create or alter image components using generative AI directly within Photoshop and other applications. So the line is very fine. But the images in the Fine Art section are entirely my own.

The Image Shows

Are these images AI generated?

Yes. Mostly Midjourney and Adbobe Firefly generative AI are used for these images.

A few are my own photos or FA images.

Are the videos AI-generated?

Some. Check the description of the actual product.

Why use AI here?

Unlike my fine art images, I use AI in my shows. The thing is, a lot of images are needed, and I don’t have the budget for models, crew, or locations.

My fine art images come from hunting for subjects and finding expression in what I see around me. The images for the shows are conceptual and follow a narrative, which is a completely different way of being creative.

Isn't that cheating?

Am I deceiving the audience? No, I'm transparent about the process. Is it cheating to be efficient in the world of art? I don’t think so.

Besides, getting generative AI to create exactly what you want isn’t easy.

Can you quickly get a pretty image? Sure. But if you want something specific, with a certain expression that might not be mainstream, it actually involves more work and imagination than many people realize.

Is the music generated by AI?

No. It is all written and performed by me.

As with my fine art images, AI is part of the algorithms in the tools used for mixing and in the various software instruments. But generative AI has not been used.

Are the lyrics generated by AI?

No. I use a special text editor that can count syllables and includes spell check, a rhyming dictionary, thesarus, etc. Nothing like generative AI.

Do you play all the instruments yourself?

Mostly yes. Check the individual product descriptions.

There are three main categories:
1) Real physical instruments (guitars, harmonica) that are recorded,
2) Software instruments, which are either sampled real instruments or synthesizers played via keyboard or programmed with special computer notation (MIDI), and
3) Software session musicians, which are algorithms that follow harmonies or other instruments in the mix with high level of human control.

I play almost all guitar, banjo, and electric bass myself on real instruments. Drums are usually session instruments. Organ, clavinet, horn sections, saxophone and the like, as well as violins and others, are software instruments.

Are the vocalist real people? Yes and no.

The two products I use for vocals are Synthesizer V and ACE Studio. They are based on sampled vocalists, whose expression can be manipulated using AI-developed tools.

Melody and lyrics are combined with the voices in a special editor, producing astonishing results. They can only sing what I tell them to.

It’s important to emphasize that these artists have received, or continue to receive, payment for the use of their voices.

Klinte & The Klintells, Aandssløw and Cliffstreamers

Are they real bands?

No, they are brands, not bands. It's a way to categorize and market my music. But I’m sadly the only member.

Why pretend they are?

In short – artistic freedom.

I also think it provides a great opportunity for a bit of storytelling by creating personas who play roles in these bands. They’re more interesting than I am. I have no desire for stardom. This is about entertainment, art – not journalism.

Isn't it deception?

I don’t hide the fact that the bands are fictional. They are described as such wherever possible.

Bands from films and TV shows have released music before in history, so why shouldn’t a one-person band be able to do the same?
